Busy as bees!

The last few weekends have been so busy for the Hicklins! Last weekend we went to the Carolina spring game and then to a Blue Dogs Concert afterwards. Evan loved the football game! He loved clapping when everyone clapped and liked Cocky from a distance but that was close enough for him. We went to see the Blue Dogs in Blythewood after the game and he had a blast dancing! I'm telling you this child has some soul! He loves music and dancing! :) Thanks goodness he got his Mommy's rhythm! haha!!!

The Come See Me festival is going on right now in Rock Hill and we have enjoyed that this past weekend. On Friday night we went to the Beach Blast and enjoyed hanging with friends and beach music. Once again there was dancing and music! Saturday we went to a birthday party and he was unsure of the bounce house they had there. I think he may like it when he gets a little older! On Sunday we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon at Glencairn Gardens for the Ice Cream Social. It was a great day to be outside. Michelle, Jennifer and I took the kids and we had a blast. Easter 2010

Easter weekend was a lot of fun at our house. On Saturday, we dyed eggs. It was the 1st time for Evan and the 1st time in a long time for me. Needless to say Evan watched because I was sure he would make a huge mess. He enjoyed playing with and cracking them once they got dry though. Saturday evening we enjoyed a cookout at some friends and Evan and Jimmy were able to fly a kite for the 1st time. Evan loved it, he just clapped as Jimmy ran around and got it going. It was a fish kite and he kept saying fish, one of his favorite words due to the fact that he loves goldfish crackers.

Easter Sunday we went to church to celebrate the true meaning of Easter. Evan loves going and playing in the nursery. He just has a ball playing with the other kids. After church, all the family joined us at our house for a wonderful lunch. I don't think anyone left hungry, thats for sure. We attempted to hunt some Easter eggs but Evan got a little cranky since he had not had a nap yet. We played outside a little and then he settled down for a 2 and 1/2 hour nap. The easter bunny did come visit Evan and he got a new chair all for himself. He absolutely loves it and looks like a little man in it. He loves climbing up in it, holding his Curious George and watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse! Here are some pics from the weekend! Enjoy!

Here comes Peter Cottontail...

Evan got to experience his 1st Easter egg hunt on Sunday at the church. And I think he got the hang of it. He was the youngest one there, but he had a blast. He had to have a little help finding the eggs but was so excited to put them in his basket. He just kept saying oooo,oooo!

His new favorite word is dog and he uses it all the time. He also picked up made a mess from me, since I'm always asking him if he made a mess. It's just too cute! I still think we have a little cleaner on our hands, he makes the mess but he loves to clean it up as well. So I definitely can't complain about that. Last night I walked into his room to find him sitting in the floor with every one of his books around him. And when he saw me he said, made a mess, but it was so cute that I could not fuss. He loves to read books and I hope it always stays that way. We are looking forward to this Easter Sunday and celebrating the real meaning with family and friends. Here are some pics from last week!

Loving this spring weather

Our family is really enjoying this spring weather we have had the last couple of weeks. Evan loves being outside so we try to spend as much time outside as possible. He is going to be great at yard work one day. He loves to help Jimmy with whatever he is doing outside and he even likes to help me clean. I'm sure that will all change when he is older and has to do chores but I'll keep my fingers crossed.

At his 15 month check up he was 26 pounds 8 ounces and 32.5 inches, still in the
90th percentile on weight and height. So he is still a big boy! I think we may be close to our 1st haircut, it has really grown and gotten thicker in the last few weeks. Here are some pics from our trip to the park and at home in the yard.

Evan's baptism

Everything went great with the baptism on Sunday. Evan behaved for the most part, however he was very interested in playing the piano we were standing beside of. He plays the piano at Grandmama's house so he thought he should be able to play it at church. Why not? We enjoyed lunch afterwards with family and friends at The Front Porch. We also enjoyed a yummy chocolate cake made especially for the big day. Here are some pics! We are truly blessed to have such a sweet little angel!

A Little Behind....

Sorry its taken me so long to do a post. Things have been crazy around our house and at work lately so I have let the blog take the back burner. Evan is still growing and changing every day! Jimmy made the comment the other day when Evan was napping that we don't have a baby anymore. I wanted to cry but he's right, we have a little boy now. I'm reminded of that so many times every day when I look at him. His looks seem to change so often these days. Annette says there are certain times when he looks like his Paw Paw Clyde and you know my Dad eats that up. I still see Jimmy and David in him everyday and there are certain looks he can give and I think he looks like me! So we like to say he is a good mix of both of our families.

He now has 14 teeth which is amazing! He has 8 on top and 6 on the bottom. Its a good thing because the child loves chicken! He is definitely a meat and potatoes boy! I hope he outgrows this picky stage really soon.

This Sunday he will be baptized at Edgemoor ARP church. We have been meaning to do this for while but time just kept slipping away. We are looking forward to a great day with family and friends. I'll post pics as soon as possible. Here are a few from our snow a couple of weeks ago and some good ones showing all those teeth!
