Almost two!

Sorry it has been so long since the last post, but we have been so busy! It seems every weekend has been full for the past few weeks and I just have not taken the time to sit down and update. Evan is doing ok, we are on our second round of antibiotics for a double ear and sinus infection. He seems to feel fine so it was hard to tell the 1st antibiotic didn't work. But after weeks of a runny nose, he went back to the doctor on Tuesday and he wasn't completely well so on to antibiotic #2. We will be on this one for 2 weeks and hopefully that will do the trick. If not we will be off to the ENT probably for tubes.

We have had lots of fun things going on the past few weeks. We took Evan to his 2nd State Fair and he really loved it this year. He was able to ride some rides but was not quite tall enough to ride everything he wanted to ride. He enjoyed the french fries and of course an elephant ear! On Saturday we enjoyed the Richburg Fall Festival and Landen's 2nd birthday party. Evan thoroughly enjoyed himself but that was when he really started not to feel too good. Jimmy and I also celebrated our 6th anniversary and its hard to believe it has been 6 years! We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Firebirds and then returned home to our sick little man.

This past weekend started with Evan's Fall Festival at school. I volunteered and really enjoyed seeing him and all the other kids interact. And might I add, he is quite the lady's man at school. All the little girls love him! On Saturday, all 3 of us went to the Carolina game and he had a blast tailgating! We discovered he loves sausage balls, which who would have ever thought he would like those. Since he is such a picky eater, I was shocked! And on Sunday to celebrate Halloween, we went trick or treating with some friends and their kids. Evan racked up on the candy and really got the whole concept of trick or treating. He looked so cute in his little puppy costume!

Here are some pics from all the fun events!

Loving Fall!

So what have the Hicklins been up to? Well Gamecock football, school, work and lots of other fun stuff. Saturday we spent the day at Edventure for the Big Truck exhibit. Jimmy's company had 2 machines there and lots of other companies had trucks and tractors to view and learn about. Needless to say, Evan had a blast! He loved climbing on the tractors and playing inside Edventure. His favorite part was definitely the grocery store! He didn't waste any time filling his buggy! just like his daddy, he went straight for the meat!

Evan is still loving school and wakes up every morning saying "I ready to go to school". It is so cute and we are so glad he loves it. He is making lots of fun art projects and is so proud of each one of them. As he says "I do that!"

Here are some pics from the Big Trucks at Edventure and 1 of his art projects!

New Beginnings!

Since my last post a lot has changed at the Hicklin household. I have started working full time in Rock Hill at Good's Pharmacy. Jimmy has started a new job with Hills Machinery as a salesman. And Evan has started playschool at the local Episcopal Day School. So needless to say we have been busy!!!

I am enjoying my new job and especially the short commute. I'm learning lots of new things there, including compounding. Which to my surprise I love! I think its like cooking and thats what attracts me to it. I was so lucky to find a job here that I really enjoy.

Jimmy also loves his new job! He is involved in sales of heavy machinery and is back doing what he loves. He has a large territory all over South Carolina but is getting use to it already.

Evan started dayschool on Sept 1st and has loved every minute of it! He cried the first few times I picked him up because he wanted to stay and play. He never cries when I drop him off and he is so excited to go! With that said, he is exhausted after a half day there so he takes a long nap after school. He has had his 3rd haircut and looks so much like a little boy now! He continues to grow and learn each day and we are so thankful for that! Here are some recent pics!

Beachin it!

Sorry for the long delay in posting but we have been busy at the beach! We spent a week at the beach with the Catoe's and last week with the Hicklin's. So there has been very little time for posting, just relaxing and beaching it. Evan loves the beach and we enjoyed all the family time together. Given his choice, he would much rather have the pool than the ocean. However he enjoyed each and every bit of it. Especially the aquarium and the old Pavillion rides at Broadway! He is learning more and more each day and still growing like a weed. Here are some pictures to recap our trips!

The Gamecocks are National Champions!

Can you believe it? The Gamecocks are National Champions! We have never been prouder to be a Gamecock! I think all of our family thought we would never see this day! But it happened and we are so happy! We have been so busy the past few weeks with weddings and all the festivities that go along with that, that I have gotten lazy in my posting.

Evan continues to grow and change more and more everyday. My Dad made the comment the other day that he's not a baby anymore. And truly he is not, he is toddler! He is starting to say words together and trying to form sentences which is so cute! His newest words are all done (which I love to hear him say), bike, Carly, which is more like Carrrweee, and Lodie which is his version of Laura. He continues to repeat everything with the exception of names. He refuses to say names and I'm not sure why. Probably just because we want him to.

He got is second haircut yesterday and still was such a good boy. I hate cutting off those curls but it is out of control when its long. He has been enjoying swimming at the Hicklin's pool this summer. He loves the water and refuses a float. He thinks he is a big boy and can swim. So he has a float vest that lets him swim more freely and he loves it! He also got a Little Tikes car a few weeks ago and between that and keys (his new obsession) he is a busy little boy. Daddy also invested in Evan a real baseball in honor of the Gamecocks! So I am waiting on the broken window! Go Cocks!

Talking up a storm!

So this week had been a little rough. Our little man is cutting his molars and they are giving all of us a hard time. It all started with a low grade fever on Sunday and a rough night Sunday night because he slept with us. On Monday, he still had the fever so Jimmy took him to the doctor just to make sure nothing else was going on. I hate doing that but you never know. No fever since Tuesday but just overall not himself. He's so cranky, not eating well and drooling a river! Hopefully all that will be over soon, I can't stand to see him not feeling well.

On a much brighter note, he is talking up a storm. Some of his favorite words are dog, lawn mower, ball and bug! Here are few new words he has started saying over the last week: go, dirty, cheese, milk, and he even said Evan for me on Tuesday night. However, he refuses to say it for Jimmy. He just smiles that devilish grin when I ask him too. It's so cute. I love that he's learning so much and he is so observant. He mimics everything we do so that could definitely be a bad thing real soon. He continues to amaze us everyday and we are so blessed. We can't believe he'll be 18 months next week, wow time flies! Here some pics from last week.

Long time no post!

Sorry it's been so long, but between work and everything else we have been busy. Evan is still growing like a weed and if I had my guess close to probably 30lbs. The boy only likes chicken and potatoes! He has began to venture out a little more lately so we are getting there.

The last couple of weekends have been busy! We went to watch the Gamecocks play baseball 2 weeks ago with both set of grandparents and we had a hot but fun time. Evan really enjoyed it! He just kept saying ball!! He still likes Cocky from a distance but not up close!

His vocabulary is getting more extensive as well. He can now say lawn mower, which I think is very impressive! He is also very obsessed with anything to do with the lawn mower. He likes riding the lawn mower with his grandaddy and just playing on it in general. We told him it won't be long before you hate the lawn mower, because once he is old enough that will be one of his many chores.

We celebrated Mother's Day last weekend with all the family and it was a nice day. I am still so blessed to be a mom to such a sweet and precious boy! Evan and Jimmy got me a blackberry for Mother's Day so I have been having fun learning and playing with that. Now I leave you with a mother's day quote that I love!

"Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body."
