So far behind.....

Well didn't realize it, but it has been 2 months since my last post. We obviously have been so busy that I have just let it slip my mind. Well let's see where do I begin? The past few months have been full of fun.

Carly and I took Evan for his 1st of many trips to Tweetsie Railroad to see Thomas the Tank Engine!!! Evan was in heaven! He got to see and ride Thomas the train which was the ultimate experience for him. He also got to enjoy all the rides and other attractions. I forsee this being a yearly adventure for us.

June ended with a bang for us as the Gamecocks won their 2nd National Championship in baseball. We made it to a couple of regional games and Evan officially knows all the Gamecock cheers. Who knows? Maybe we have a future Gamecock baseball player on our hands. We were also able to attend the welcome home party for the team which was a blast. I am so happy I have been able to go to both of those the last two years! That is truly an unforgettable experience.

My best friend all through high school and college welcomed her little girl in June as well. Evan and I made a trip to Charlotte to meet baby Willa. Evan loves holding babies and rubbing their heads. He was so cute with her. I am so happy Kristy and Jeremy finally got their sweet baby girl and couldn't be happier for them.

Evan made his 1st wedding debut in a good friends wedding a few weeks ago as a ring bearer. Might I say he was the cutest ring bearer ever!!! He did a really good job and Jimmy & I were very proud parents.

We spent last week at the beach with the Catoe family. Evan had a blast swimming every day in the pool. He was not too big on the ocean but loves the pool. He is quite the swimmer too. With his swimmies on, he thinks he is big stuff. He jumps in over and over and swims around all by himself. He truly is growing up so fast. Here are some beach pics.

More exciting news to announce as well! My baby sis got engaged to her boyfriend, Lanny, of 3 years while we were on family vacation this year. Everyone helped him pull off the surprise and we were all so blessed to have been there. It's so hard to believe she is old enough to get married and truly makes me feel old! We are so happy for her and wish her and Lanny all the best! Looks like Evan will make his 2nd wedding experience real soon. Here are some pics from the proposal!

Fun times

The last few weeks have been packed with lots of fun stuff! On Friday May 6th, we headed to Columbia so celebrate Aunt Carwee's graduation. Hard to believe she is graduating college already. We wish her all the best and hope all her dreams come true!

We celebrated Mother's Day here at our house with both of our families. It was a great day full of food, fun and family time. Jimmy and Evan surprised me with a secretary desk and it looks great in our foyer! They are too good to me! We had some family pics made on the Horseshoe (where it all began for me and Jimmy) and gave them to our moms for Mother's Day. I think everyone really enjoyed themselves.

We experienced a bad thunder storm last week with 60-70 mph winds. We had a couple of trees fall in our yard and Jimmy has decided to chop down some more in hopes of preventing this in the future. As well as making room for a backyard and maybe a new swing set for Evan sometime this summer. However, the deal is he has to start using the potty before he can get a swingset. And it's not looking like that will be anytime soon, since he shows no interest in doing that! :)

Sunday we spent the day at the Carolina baseball game with MeeMaw and Paw. Evan had a wonderful time at the game and kept a close watch for Cocky! He loves saying "Let's Go Gamecocks!"

On Monday we went on a field trip with Evan's school to Cherry Place Farm. Evan really enjoyed seeing all the animals and of course the tractor ride was the highlight of the trip! I really enjoy seeing him interact with his friends at school. They are all so cute together! This is his last week of school but he will be attending two summer camps at the school just to keep him in the swing of things.

Easter

It's been a while since my last post but we have just been so busy! Easter has come and gone and school will be over in a few weeks! Where does the time go?

Evan did great with his tubes. We went back to the ENT on Tuesday for follow up and Evan passed his hearing screening and the tubes are doing their job. No fluid on either ear! :)

We spent Easter celebrating the true meaning and spending time with family eating and hunting easter eggs. Evan really has the Easter egg hunting down! I must admit he looked so cute in his Easter outfit! Very much like a little boy! He is truly growing up each and every day.

Here are some pictures from Easter.

Making Memories

Might I say the Hicklin family is glad spring is here! Hopefully all the sickness will be gone and we can enjoy all this warm weather. On a side note, we went and saw the ENT last Friday and due to multiple reasons (fluid on both ears still, failing the hearing screening and all the ear infections over the past few months), Evan will be getting tubes on April 5. We have mixed emotions but feel this is the best thing for him. Our hopes are for no more ear infections, eating better and hopefully sleeping better. It has been a long time coming and at this point, we are ready for it to be over. So everyone pray for us as we prepare ourselves for that!

We took today to enjoy this beautiful weather. We started our day at Cracker Barrell for breakfast then headed to see my grandparents and Evan's great grandparents. Both my grandmother and grandfather have had some health issues over the last few weeks, so we wanted to spend some time with them. My grandmother had a mild stroke and had a pacemaker installed last week. She seems to be on the mend and I know it did her some good to see Evan today. She says that is the best medicine! Evan and his Great Pawpaw Tom went fishing in the neighbors pond. They caught 4 fish in a matter of minutes and Evan loved it! Probably about half as much as my grandfather did. :) I love seeing him with them and having him make all these memories! We are all very fortunate to be able to spend time with our family. Here are some pics from the fishing trip!

Sick again?

Well the past few months have been full of on and off ear infections and here we are again with another double ear infection. It seems after being on the medication for 2weeks then off for a week the infection always seems to come back. Just when we thought he was finally over it, Sunday night he developed a fever and that landed us back at the pediatrician on Monday. Since we have tried it all, Evan is having to do a round of 3 Rocephin shots in hopes to finally knock these ear infections out. We will also be referred to an ENT and there is a possibility of tubes. At this point we are so tired of seeing him sick that we will do anything to make him better. The shots are hard because he has to do a series of 3 and he hates shots like every other child but especially these because they really sting and burn. He goes back tomorrow for number 2 and then Friday for the 3rd. Everyone pray for all of us as we go through this. I was crying with him on Monday when he got the 1st one. But we all know this is for the best and he will finally have some relief so it will be worth it in the end. Here are some pics of our big boy this past weekend.

Snow much fun!

Just wanted to update with some snow pics from our 2 snow days here in Rock Hill. It's hard to believe we got 2 snows! Normally we are all hoping for one. I think it's safe to say The Hicklins have spring fever and this past weekend just teased us! Also some pics from our 1st trip to the circus. Evan loved riding the rail system to downtown Charlotte and really enjoyed the circus. His favorite thing was by far the baby elephant, he could not quit talking about it. He also got his 1st taste of cotton candy and I think he liked it.

Excited to wake up to the snow!
